Shutting down computer after utorrent downloads or at a particular time

This may come in handy when you wanna shut down your computer after some time like an hour or so. Also for connections like BSNL which have free download only from 2am-8am. Here are two methods without the use of any additional software.

Option 1: utorrent has an option for this utorrent->in menubar options-> Auto shutdown-> select shutdown after downloads complete or hibernate after downloads complete

Option 2: Sometimes your download doesn't complete in time coz of less apeed or seeds etc. So now
start > run > type cmd and hit enter
cmd opens

type shutdown /s /t and the amount of time you in which you want your system to shutdown/turnoff in seconds

your command should look like this

shutdown /s /t 60

this will shut down the computer in 60 secs

Here:
/s means shut down
/t means time
60 means 60 secs

After you type in this command and hit enter a small pop up at the corner of the screen will tell you how many seconds is left for the computer to turn off.


Suppose you wanna cancel the command type
shutdown /a


If you feel calculation of time in secs is hard then use this website

Fix Grub Error, Grub Rescue with SUPER GRUB

After you've accidently deleted your grub/ formatted the linux partition or deleted your win boot loader. Your system will not boot and give you errors like Grub Rescue or Grub Error etc.
As a result you will not be able to log into windows or any linux Destro.
If you happen to have a live CD of Win / the respective linux destro installed then you'll need to follow other methods.

Suppose if you dont have any live cd and not able to boot
You'll need Super Grub
Step 1: Go to this website http://www.supergrubdisk.org/super-grub2-disk/

Step 2: It's 1.4 MB Download it and burn it on a CD or put it on the USB by this METHOD

Step 3: Boot the CD/USB the menu will appear, select "Detect any Operating SYSTEM"

Step 4: It may display Unknown FS (Filesystem) Just give it some time . It'll show you a list of OS that's on your System. Select which ever you want to boot inn. Suppose you wan WIN 7/ Win vista/ Xp select the appropriate option and hit enter.

Step 5: Your system will boot into the windows installed on your system.

Note: You can use this CD to boot each time. It's only temporary. i.e After your restart the system without the CD it'll show you the same grub rescue / error . To prevent this there are grub rescue methods for LINUX based on the diff linux destro. Google it.

For windows.
step 1: Download Easy BCD http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/
step 2: Select Bootloader setup
step 3: select Fix MBR

your done!.

Note: this will write only the windows partition to the loader all your linux partition entries will be lost.

System Fix - A virus/Malware/Randomware--BEWARE

This is a malware and not any program to fix your system. It connects to the internet and asks them to buy the product to fix all the fake system errors it provides.

symptoms:
1) The background turned to black.
2) The only two desktop icons left are "My Computer" and the "Recycle Bin".
3) The "Start" menu, "All Programs" and all the folders in "My computer" are completely empty.
4) A lot of message boxes appear on startup saying stuff like "Failed to save all the components for the file xxxxxxxxxx. The file is corrupted or unreadable.". Even if u close them, the same amount of messages appears at once after a couple of minutes.
5) A legit-looking program called "System Fix" appears on its own, pretends to scan the computer and detect a number of "Critical" errors with the hardware and software and also pretends to be able to fix some of them. Finally, it claims that it's a trial version and prompts the user to buy a full version to fix the rest.
